The domains strong wording .me means it is useful for marketing reasons, for example tell.me. The domain is also important for companies which are active in the European market or in need of trademark protection.
Registration will take place in three different phases:
6th May – 20th May 2008 - General Sunrise (first option for registered trademarks)
Everyone that applied for a registered trademark before June 28th 2006 can apply for registration during this phase.
The wording of the trademark must be identical to that of the desired domain name. If more than one application is received which meet the requirements, an auction will take place to decide the outcome of the domain.
6th June – 26th June 2008 - Landrush
In this phase everyone can has the option to register any desired domain name, no specific requirements is needed. If more than one application is received which meet the requirements, an auction will take place to decide the outcome of the domain.
17th July 2008 – General Launch
.ME is now open for everyone to register, on a first come first served basis.
