CTM - Community Trademark

CTM is short for Community Trademark. A community trademark provides protection for your trademark throughout the EU, and applications should be lodged with OHIM.

Unlike a Swedish trademark application, OHIM does not carry out any official examination with regard to relative obstacles. This increases the chances of getting your application through, but simultaneously increases the risk of the trademark being confusable with previous trademarks. After a CTM has been published there is an establishment period of three months; if no objections are received the trademark will be registered.
