gTLD

A gTLD (Generic Top Level Domain) is a top-level domain not linked to any specific country, but which is aimed at a group with a common affiliation or purpose. gTLDs usually comprise three or more characters. Examples of gTLDs are .com, .net, .mobi, .aero, .asia and .travel.
 

ccTLD

A ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain) is a country-linked domain. ccTLDs have two characters and there are currently around 250 of them. Each country domain has its own regulations and pricing. With a few exceptions, ccTLDs are delegated in accordance with ISO 3166 1 alpha-2. Examples of ccTLDs are .se for Sweden, .no for Norway, .de for Germany and .cn for China.
